Every now and then we come across an experience that can inspire us for a lifetime. Our TSX Educational Trip is a Trans-Sierra Xtreme Challenge experience dedicated to inspiring young people. It is a week-long summer trek across the Sierra built on an experience that has provided life-long inspiration to hundreds of motivated youth since 1983. There are “summer camps” — and then there is camping in the summer, in the Sierra, while trekking 75 miles with a small group of motivated individuals to summit Mt. Whitney (14,505 feet), the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.
Our Educational Trips are for students, and parents or family members, who want more than an average summer break. It’s for individuals who choose to challenge, adventure, and experience life-lessons that can’t be taught in the classroom. The experience will allow participants to explore environmental issues, engage in environmental problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. This is a summer experience that goes on the college application. It goes on the resume. But more importantly, the sense of accomplishment goes with you, wherever you go, for the rest of your life.
Our founders have taken hundreds of ambitious individuals on the week-long trans-Sierra trek, including over 100 students exiting the 5th grade. Our guides are among the most experienced backpackers in the Sierra. We are educators who lead by example in our appreciation of the outdoors.
