Presenter Alyssa Whoaa
Description No one is born a professional backpacker and that first trip into the wilderness is always intimidating no matter who you are. For TSX guide Alyssa Whoaa, that first trip was a 2,600 mile trek from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. Join this interactive presentation as Alyssa recounts her experience hiking the PCT in 2019. Experience the highs and lows of life on the trail during a big snow year. Learn what Alyssa learned about herself, about backpacking and the community of people who undertake this journey every year. Whether planning a PCT attempt or just looking for some inspiration you won’t want to miss this talk!
MEET OUR PRESENTER
Originally from NYC, Alyssa fell in love with backpacking on the PCT in 2019. Since then, she has spent a lot of her time in Antarctica working for a research station at the South Pole. Over the last two years Alyssa has been working hard to pursue her goal of becoming the first woman to ski solo unsupported to the North Pole. Between her training expeditions to Greenland and guiding for TSX in the summer, she still manages to spend lots quality time with her boyfriend and cat Oscar at home base in Chicago.
