Kate Hill

My name is Kate Hill. I’m originally from Tahoe, California but currently live in Denver, Colorado. My love for being on trail stems from a childhood spent in the Sierra as well as my history as a runner. Although I still trail run regularly, and have recently dipped my toes in the world of ultra running, my primary focus is backpacking.

I love to dive into new hobbies head first, so in 2017 without any prior experience I backpacked the John Muir Trail. The JMT changed my world because on that trek I met people that where thru hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. After the JMT I made it my goal to hike the PCT. I completed the PCT in 2019 and since then have backpacked the Colorado Trail, the Tahoe Rim Trial, and many other multi week trails around the West. Within the next few years I hope to triple crown by hiking the Appalachian Trail and Continental Divide Trail.

In recent summers instead of heading out to backpack another long trail I have the pleasure of working with TSX Challenge. I am drawn to guiding because I can fuse my main career, teaching, with my love for backpacking. Helping people experience the beauty of the Sierra all while helping foster better backpacking skills is a dream come true!
