2024 Summer Update

Since early June, we’ve had the pleasure of guiding teams with participants as young as 8 and as seasoned as 75 through inspirational treks across the Sierra! From the hidden depths of Tehipite Valley to the summit of Mt. Whitney, Hell For Sure, and beyond, each adventure has been filled with diverse individuals who carry incredible stories and accomplishments. A huge shoutout to our dedicated team leaders—Alessandro, Alyssa, Trey, Wyatt, Chris—and our ever-reliable driver Brad, for safely guiding our teams through these epic journeys. We’ve captured some of the season’s best photos below!

Trans-Sierra Xtreme Challenge

It’s hard to put into words the sheer beauty and remote terrain our Trans-Sierra teams experienced this summer. These pictures offer just a glimpse. From young to old, teamwork defined these trips and this route, and we’re glad to welcome many more members into our extended TSX Family! Team #4 heads out this week!

Tehipite Valley

Teamwork and problem-solving were needed to be among the first to explore Tehipite Valley this season. Our spring teams faced high river flows, overgrown trails, and countless downed logs, but their determination led them to the valley’s majestic floor and dome. Even first-time backpackers took on what might be our toughest and most rewarding trek of the year. We also debuted new trail meals, like the hit Fried Tofu Braised with Sesame and Soy. Hell For Sure Challenge

Our Hell For Sure Challenge teams soaked up the best of the high Sierra during July and August, tackling an exhilarating mix of on- and off-trail routes that led to dozens of pristine lakes. With near-perfect weather, each trek was a blend of adventure and relaxation—swimming, fishing, and exploring some of the Sierra’s most underrated gems. Completely unplugged from the world—no cell phones, internet, or social media—this was a true escape, where the only connection was to a shared Power Nap, and the occasional oversharing of TMI!

Lost Lake

Our youngest crew, ages 8 and 9, hiked over 16 miles round-trip to help test a new location for a future route in Kings Canyon National Park! The hike to Lost Lake didn’t disappoint. Perfect for all ages and experience levels, we accessed remote high Sierra terrain without the crowds. It was quality father-son and father-daughter time. We look forward to sharing this experience with more families in 2025. Stay tuned!
